Every public Steam hardware line, including the TBD rows.

System Requirements

Steam’s The Defiant store page (app 3184960) is the only official PC spec sheet, and it is incomplete on purpose: the game is unreleased. This page copies that sheet, explains what the filled rows mean, and refuses to borrow numbers from other Unreal Engine 5 shooters. If you need the console picture instead, open platforms. If you still need the wishlist walkthrough, start at Getting Started.

How to read the holes

OS TBD. Do not assume Windows 10 versus 11, and do not assume a Linux or macOS SKU. Until Hoothanes prints an OS line, plan on a current Windows 64-bit PC.

CPU/GPU TBD. A 15-hour cinematic UE5 campaign with snow, night cities, and large firefights can land anywhere from “last-gen high” to “current-gen medium.” Guessing a 3060 or a 4060 here would be fan fiction. When a matrix appears, this table will grow GPU names, not before.

RAM 8 / 16. Treat 8 GB as the legal minimum, not a comfort zone. 16 GB is the only recommended number they were willing to print. If you have 8 GB and a page file, you might launch; we will not promise a playable frame rate.

100 GB storage. That is large for a single-player FPS and consistent with high-res UE5 assets, audio (full VO in English and Chinese), and multiple chapters. Leave extra headroom for shader caches. Drive type is unspecified.

Other PC flags that are not specs

  • Full controller support including Xbox controllers.
  • Captions / subtitle options, adjustable text size, color alternatives, camera comfort, custom volume, stereo sound, adjustable difficulty, save anytime.
  • Single-player, online co-op, LAN co-op as features — see PvE co-op.

None of those tell you a frame-rate cap or a ray-tracing toggle. Trailer settings are unknown.

Practical pre-launch checklist

  1. Confirm 16 GB RAM if you can; 8 GB is the printed floor.
  2. Keep 100 GB free on the Windows drive you actually install games to.
  3. Wishlist so the store can email you when the spec table updates.
  4. Recheck this page after every updates spike — spec drops often ride along with a date.
  5. Do not buy a new GPU “for The Defiant” until the GPU row is no longer TBD.

Consoles

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are confirmed SKUs. There is no published dynamic-resolution target, no 40/60/120 FPS statement, and no Series S caveat. Those will live on platforms when they exist.

Engine note

Unreal Engine 5 is official. That informs texture streaming and shader compile stutters on first launch of many UE5 titles, but it is not a license to copy another game’s recommended RTX 4070 line into this article.
