Trailers and Videos

Every video on this wiki is a real public upload. This page is the filmography so you do not have to bounce between 4Divinity, Hoothanes, and IGN. One embed sits in the middle of the article (the January 2026 IGN reveal). Other official cuts are listed with what they actually show. For show context, read the gamescom 2026 recap. For mechanics inside those shots, use How to Play.

Watch order

1. Official reveal (embedded above). IGN, 28 January 2026, about 90 seconds. First Western look: cinematic single-player, China’s War of Resistance, wishlist on Steam. Good if you know nothing.

2. Official gameplay trailer (long). Hoothanes (ELjOzlCslNw) and 4Divinity (D3T0OBP0IKc) posted ~6:18 gameplay in late 2025 / the reveal window. Forest combat, period rifles, the tone of the northeast campaign. This is the one to send someone who says “but how does it play?” The same footage appears on this site’s how to play page.

3. New gameplay reveal. 4Divinity, 30 July 2026 (GOShIK13yHg), about 3:10. ChinaJoy-week cut. Also used as the homepage trailer. Locations, gun close-ups, the “weapons are echoes of history” line.

4. gamescom 2026 official trailer. 4Divinity (fLi2p1hhVTU), about 1:40, 25 August 2026. Opening Night Live companion. Documented on the gamescom page.

5. IGN gamescom gameplay. gv8_NdSGpB4, about 3:09. Same week, Western broadcast cut.

6. IGN preview feature. vYzvkzteexI, about 8:20, 30 July 2026. Hands-on commentary, four chapters, co-op aside. Embedded on the campaign overview.

7. IGN gamescom interview. NIrYZWGM864, about 11 minutes. Kong Yuheng and Chor Yong. Embedded on Shanghai stealth because they talk about different battle fantasies.

Hoothanes also posted a shorter Chinese-language gameplay teaser (mQqOHnH758o). 4Divinity has subtitled variants of the long gameplay trailer in Simplified and Traditional Chinese. Those are localisation mirrors, not extra footage.

What the cameras keep showing

  • Snow forest and trench fighting (northeast chapter energy).
  • Occupied streets and night interiors (Shanghai spy energy).
  • Trains, flags, and squads on ridgelines (key art that also became this site’s hero and overview images).
  • Bolt-action rifles, C96-shaped pistols, early SMGs — cross-check rifles and sidearms.

They do not show a battle pass, an operator select screen, or a release date card. If a future trailer finally includes a month, it will be added here the same day.

How we embed videos on the wiki

Each article is limited to one YouTube player, placed mid-page, lazy-loaded. We do not stack three trailers at the bottom of a guide. If two pages would want the same ID, only one keeps the embed; the other links in prose.

How to watch without getting fooled

Cinematic shots of flags and trains are not proof of a finished mission. When you evaluate a new upload, ask three questions: is the footage in-engine or pre-rendered, does a HUD appear, and does the uploader match 4Divinity, Hoothanes, or a named outlet such as IGN. Fan recuts of the same six-minute gameplay pass do not count as new information. If a video claims a price, a month, or a leaked skill tree, ignore it until it appears on Steam or the updates hub. Keep one tab on the campaign overview so forest shots and city shots land in the right chapter instead of blending into a single generic WWII vibe.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Which The Defiant trailer should I watch first?

The reveal embed on this page if you need the pitch, then 4Divinity's three-minute gameplay reveal on the homepage.

Are these videos official?

Yes. They come from 4Divinity, Hoothanes, or IGN coverage of official footage. We do not invent video IDs.

Why does each wiki page only have one video?

Site rule: one embed, mid-article, so pages stay readable on mobile and do not repeat the same trailer.

Where is the gamescom trailer discussed?

On the gamescom 2026 page, with the official 4Divinity embed.
